The Rock Port R-II School Board of Education held a regular meeting Monday, June 10, 2024. President Regan Griffin called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. in the board room. Also present were Regan Griffin, Afton Schomburg, Joanna Burke, Jared Meyerkorth, Kayla Sierks, Troy Cook, and Reven Herron (via Zoom), board members; Dr. Bollinger, superintendent; Dr. Waigand, elementary principal; Mr. Parsons, high school principal; and Jennifer Welch, board secretary. Chris Horn and Stephanie Parsons were guests.

The agenda was adopted.

The minutes from May 16, 2024, meeting were approved.

Dr. Bollinger reviewed the financial information. The transfer of funds, May final check register, and June check register to date were approved.

Dr. Waigand went over the elementary principal’s report and Mr. Parsons gave the high school principal’s report.

Dr. Bollinger went over his monthly program report. This month’s report was over Food Service.

Chris Horn gave a construction update to the board.

The board took action to approve the following: 2023 – 2024 final bus routes and the visual impairment services contract.

New Business

Board members voted to amend the 2023-2024 budget to reflect actual expenditures and revenues as of June 30, 2024. They also set 2024-2025 board meeting dates.

The junior high textbook recommendation in the amount of $15,648.00 was unanimously approved.

Board members discussed and approved replacement of the air conditioning unit in the band room in the amount of $32,974.42.

Executive Session

At 7:25 p.m. board members voted to move to executive session for personnel matters.

The meeting returned to open session at 7:51 p.m.

New Business – Personnel

Board members voted unanimously to employ Ciara Hunter as the fourth/fifth grade ELA and Social Studies teacher for the 2024 – 2025 school year.

They also voted to employ Heaven Sanders as an elementary special education paraprofessional for the 2024 – 2025 school year.

The board voted to employ Erika Murry as an elementary special education paraprofessional for the 2024 – 2025 school year. Joanna Burke abstained. The motion carried.

Nancy Nauman was employed as a junior high/high school life skills paraprofessional for the 2024 – 2025 school year.

Future business was discussed.
