All eyes are on the Missouri River as we wait to see how high the river rises and whether or not the new levees will hold. Farmers are already moving grain and equipment and the levees are being patrolled for unauthorized persons.

The 4th of July is just a week away. Check out the schedule of events on page 2. Donations for fireworks are at $5,965, and the Rock Port Chamber of Commerce is hoping to raise $10,000 for the annual display. Donations can be taken to the Atchison County Mail, 300 S.
