• Detasselers are working in the DeKalb hybrid seed corn fields in the Fairfax community this week. Every year, this work provides employment for numerous people, as they draw good wages while the work lasts. DeKalb has a large acreage of seed corn fields in the Fairfax and Tarkio areas.
• The 4-State Roundup is Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Besides the rodeo, other attractions include Lytell the Magician, the Flying McBrides, Nelson Thomasen, Toby Wizzarde, the Junior Drum and Bugle Corps, a parade, Gust Karras’ greater shows on the midway, and the world’s largest matched team of horses.
• Specials at Conn’s Grocery include: cured bacon jowls, 25¢ per pound; Kellogg’s Raisin Bran, 31¢ for two packages; large package of Tide, 28¢; watermelons, 3 1/2¢ per pound; lemons, 52¢ for one dozen; and White Sail toilet tissue, 31¢ for a four-roll package.

• An ice cream social with homemade ice cream and entertainment provided by the Gospel Associates of Craig will be held Saturday, July 20, at the Fairfax City Park. The event is sponsored by the Fairfax Christian Church.
• Vandals broke into the Mr. and Mrs. John Harbin home west of Fairfax early Sunday evening and destroyed furniture, dishes, pictures, and a big clock and emptied drawers onto the floor. Very little was taken except an antique gun and a small amount of cash. Evidence of a break-in was also discovered at Moore Bros. Service Station after opening Monday. It was apparent that someone had been in the building, but early examination revealed nothing missing.
• Community Hospital Association, Fairfax, has 17 teenage girls involved in the hospital’s candy striper program. The candy stripers, ages 14 to 19, donate at least four hours each week helping patients and staff.
• A large tent revival will be held July 20-28 on the Fairfax football field. Dr. Jerry Brock will conduct an old-fashioned revival meeting and he will be assisted by well-known musical evangelists Ron and Vickie Malott.

• Miss Fairfax contestants this year are Jenea’ Kemerling, Ashley Grossman, Megan Deering, Holly Clement, Katy Hunter, Lexi Ballinger, and Stephanie Sinkhorn. Junior Miss Fairfax contestants are Alyssa Wiley, Jessica Koop, Jessica Wiley, Lacy Moore, Bethany Graves, Ashley Gomel, and Lauren Zeliff.
• Mrs. Hazel Moore of Fairfax will be celebrating her 90th birthday Sunday, July 18. A family celebration is being planned for Sunday afternoon.
• Over 25 children are attending the Fairfax Library’s summer reading program every Wednesday through the month of July.
