Atchison County C.A.R.E. operates a 24/7 hotline 365 days a year. Currently C.A.R.E. has three volunteers who assist the victim advocates in answering any incoming hotline calls on weekends. Would you be interested in becoming a volunteer to only answer the hotline between 5:00 p.m. Friday and 9:00 a.m. Monday? Should a call come in during that time frame, you are only required to answer the phone. If it is a call that requires attention, you would contact the victim advocate on call for the weekend and simply relay the information. C.A.R.E. will provide the phone and does not dictate where you may go during your time – you simply have to be available for a phone call and be in a coverage area that can receive calls. C.A.R.E. will be having an “Interested & Informational Training” Thursday, August 22, 2024, at 6:00 p.m. at the C.A.R.E. house in Rock Port. If you have questions regarding this meeting/training, call C.A.R.E. at 660-744-9966. Teresa or Kris will be happy to answer your questions.
