The Kansas City Chiefs will be chasing history when they open the 2024 National Football League season against the Baltimore Ravens on Thursday, September 5. The Chiefs won their second consecutive Super Bowl a season ago, and this year they will attempt to become the first team in NFL history to win three consecutive Super Bowls. That flirtation is perhaps one reason why sports bookmakers designated the Chiefs as the favorites (+600) to win Super Bowl LIX at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans prior to training camp. Though the Chiefs were installed as the lone favorites for much of the offseason, some oddsmakers have installed the team Kansas City defeated in last year’s Super Bowl, the San Francisco 49ers, as co-favorites. Much can, and likely will, change between Week 1 and the second weekend in February when the Super Bowl is played. But there’s no denying all eyes will be on Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelce and the Chiefs as the team looks to accomplish something no team in league history has ever pulled off.
