Doris Mae (Case) Lingerfelt, the daughter of Walter and Hallie (Gaines) Case, was born September 11, 1935, in Watson, Missouri. Doris was one of 11 children. Doris graduated from Watson High School in 1953, where she was captain of the basketball team.
On March 12, 1955, Doris was united in marriage to William Earl Lingerfelt, Sr., in Hamburg, Iowa. They celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary before Bill passed away in June 2010.
Throughout her lifetime, Doris taught Sunday School, was a Girl Scout Leader, and was also employed in the Rock Port School cafeteria. Doris enjoyed sewing quilts with her sisters, watching the Game Show Network, cooking shows, and the Kansas City Chiefs and Royals teams. She enjoyed bowling on the Consolidated Freightways Wives League in North Platte and Lincoln, Nebraska. However, most important was her time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren, great- and great-great-grandchildren. Doris loved her “sisters” vacations to Branson and Kentucky to quilt shows.
The annual Case Family Reunion held a special place in Doris’ heart, and she hoped it would always continue. Doris passed away Saturday, July 20, 2024, at Community Hospital-Fairfax, Fairfax, Missouri, at the age of 88.
Besides her parents, and husband, Bill, Doris was preceded in death by son, Bill Lingerfelt, Jr.; sisters, Marie Morrison and Sylvia Clodfelter; and brothers, Paul Dean Case and Roy Case.
