Clara Jane Close, 77, St. Joseph, Missouri, peacefully slipped into the arms of her Savior, Jesus, Friday, August 2, 2024, surrounded by her goddaughter and her sisters of the heart.

She was born October 17, 1946, in St. Joseph to Floyd and Mary (Mapes) Close. In 1964, Jane graduated from Lafayette High School along with a group of precious friends who became her family.

Jane worked in cosmetology and at Carnation.

She blessed many families with her caregiving, cleaning, and cooking abilities throughout her life. Several of them she considers to be family.

The Lord richly blessed Jane with the gift of hospitality. Her cuisine was a culinary delight worthy of a hallelujah chorus! Jane’s comfort food was the result of all the joy and love she poured into it, truly a five-star experience.

Preceding her in death were her parents; sister, Judy Pickett; and niece, Cindy Mitchell. Survivors include her nephew, Gerald Pickett (Angie); great-nephews and niece, Richard Mitchell, III, Travis Adams, and Dorothy Adams; great-great-niece, Ava Adams; goddaughter, Lori Cox (Greg); and countless friends.

Jane loved the Lord and was a member of Good News Church of Tarkio for over 25 years. She asked that memorial donations be made to the church at 201 N. 6th St., Tarkio, MO 64491.

Miss Close has been cremated under the care of the Schooler Funeral Home, Fairfax, Missouri. No services will be held. A private family inurnment will be held later in the Pleasant Ridge Cemetery, Fairfax. Memorials may be given to Good News Church. Online condolences may be left at andrewshannfuneralhome.com.
