• Ask Elsie Fae column: “Recent developments concerning plans for my funeral flowers strongly indicate that sainthood will not be mine. Edna picked pink roses (this met with an emphatic no from Mary Beth as she said pink roses do not sound like mother, but she must have forgot that they have thorns). Eddie or maybe it was Danny suggested sunflowers surrounded by thistles. Jane said her choice was Venus flytrap. The talk then moved to my epitaph. Suggestions included: ‘Known by many, loved by few’ – author unknown; ‘It’s too late to Ask Elsie Fae’ – Jane; ‘She forgot to take her longevity pills’ – Jim; ‘She came, she saw, she SAID…and…and…’ – Paul; ‘I DID spend time with mother’ – Mary Beth; and ‘Most Dearly Beloved Wife and Mother’ – Elsie Fae.”
