Wilma Louise Wilcoxson, 90, of Jefferson City, Missouri, passed away Friday, July 26, 2024, at Capital Region Medical Center, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born June 22, 1934, in Maryville, Missouri, the daughter of the late Herman and Josephine Hedrick Jones. She was united in marriage September 27, 1953, to Roger Wilcoxson, who preceded her in death in 2012.

Wilma was a 1952 graduate of Fairfax High School in Fairfax, Missouri. She attended Northwest Missouri State in Maryville and Southeast Missouri State in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. Wilma earned a bachelor’s degree in education and a master’s degree in business. She touched the lives of the many high school students who passed through her room over the 27 years she taught business at Jackson High School in Jackson.

Wilma started the first Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) chapter in Jackson. She mentored students in the 4-H program and served as president of the State Business Teachers Association. Wilma was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church and the Christian Motorcycle Association. She loved traveling with her husband by motorcycle all over the continental United States, Alaska, and had been through all provinces of Canada.

Wilma is survived by her children, Terri Myer (Mark Verity) of Fenton and Kathleen “Kathy” Wilcoxson of Jefferson City; grandchildren, Jaime Marshall (Sam), Tyson Myer (Chauntel), Jonathan Myer (Emilie), and Kelsey Vogler; and great-grandchildren, Grace Marshall, Aslyn Marshall, Maddax Myer, Camden Myer, Isabella Grimi, and Cooper Myer. She is also survived by a cousin, Donna Dale (Hedrick) Porter, who her parents raised. She was preceded in death by her grandson, Justin Myer.

A funeral service was held Sunday, July 28, 2024, at Houser-Millard Funeral Directors in Jefferson City, with the Rev. Steve George and the Rev. John Kerr officiating the service.
