Mary Ann Beggs, the daughter of Glen and Fern (Norton) Henning, was born on March 27, 1934, in Shenandoah, Iowa. Mary Ann was one of nine children, and attended Moulton School and Tarkio High School, Tarkio, Missouri, graduating in 1951.
On March 22, 1952, Mary Ann was united in marriage to Herb Beggs, and they recently celebrated their 70th anniversary with friends and family.
Mary Ann and Herb farmed and raised cattle in Tarkio. When their children graduated high school, they purchased a home near Gainesville, Missouri. There, they enjoyed time at the lake and canoeing. After their sabbatical ended, they returned to Fairfax, Missouri. Mary Ann worked in banking and crafted many homemade teddy bears through her business, The Bear’s Den.
During the summer months, Mary Ann and Herb spent six-month tours at Silver Creek Plunge Resort, north of Boise, Idaho. They made many friends and continued corresponding with them. They loved to travel the United States, making many memories together. God was always with them, near and dear in their hearts.
Mary Ann passed away Friday, July 26, 2024, at the age of 90. Besides her parents, Mary Ann was preceded in death by husband, Herb Beggs; sons, Randy (Faye) Beggs and Jeff (Janice) Beggs; son-in-law, Jim Scheve; and siblings, Jim, Russel, Betty, Carolyn, Pat, and Norma.
Survivors include daughter, Linda Scheve; grandsons, Jeremy (Andrea) Beggs, Brandon (Trish) Beggs, Jacob Scheve, and Jesse Scheve; eight great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren; sister, Sally; and brother, Virgil Henning.
The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Ascera Care Hospice for their care, as well as the many visits of numerous friends and family.
Mary Ann’s body has been donated to science.
A Celebration of Life will begin at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 17, 2024, at First Christian Church, Mound City, Missouri. The family will receive friends after the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the First Christian Church, Mound City or Mound City Nutrition Center.
