Happy August everyone! I hope everyone is enjoying this sudden break in the heat and getting outside and getting some fresh air! With school just around the corner for our kiddos, I thought I would tell you about one of my favorite pastimes, listening to Christian podcasts. When things get busy or too crazy I love to pop in my earbuds and listen to fellow believers talk about topics that are important to me. The handy thing about podcasts is you can listen as you multi-task! Being a full-time pastor, mom, and student, squeezing in entertainment for myself can be a challenge but I listen to podcasts while I do dishes, go on a walk with my three-month-old, or most commonly as I drive to and from events. It is a great way to learn about others’ points of view and stretch your theology while simply listening!
Below I have shared my three favorite podcasts but I encourage you to look up others! There are plenty of fantastic ones out there that you may enjoy more than what I like. You can find them on many different apps on your phone or computer but my go-to apps are Amazon Music and Apple Podcasts.
My top podcast is “Sheologians.” It is hosted by two reformed Baptists who believe that culture, politics, art, our attitudes, our relationships, and the whole of our lives need to be viewed through a comprehensive Christian worldview. While they are Calvanists and I don’t agree with all of their theology, I love to listen and laugh along with them as they tackle current events.
The next favorite is “Whoa, That’s Good.” This is hosted by Sadie Robertson Huff and trust me when I say that this is a hilarious and inspirational podcast, where she asks people of influence their best advice.
Last, but certainly not least, is the “Jack Hibbs Podcast.” Again, we don’t agree on absolutely all our theology but he is a wonderful preacher and educator from California who also loves to tackle current cultural events through a biblical worldview.
A couple of honorable mentions are “What Have You” with Rachel Jankovic, “Unashamed” with the Duck Commander and his family, and “Christ with Coffee on Ice” with Ally Yost.
I pray that this article finds you all happy and healthy, and we, as the Good News Church and Westboro Methodist, will continue to pray for you all and our county! Blessings!
