The Tarkio Nutrition Center has been a cornerstone of community support and nourishment for many decades. Last year alone, the center served over 12,000 home-delivered meals, 5,300 in-house meals, and an impressive 1,400 drive-up meals. The goal for this year is to exceed those numbers and reach even more individuals in need. This year, the center was even a dine-in place for local children who would stop by every day for a free meal and special activity. In addition to providing nutritious meals, the center serves as a vibrant hub for social activities, featuring chair yoga sessions, a bridge card club, a pool table, and a lending library, all designed to foster connection and well-being in our community.
The Tarkio Nutrition Center is home to various community groups, such as the local car club, which meets monthly, and the Tarkio Rotary Club, which meets weekly at the center. This makes the center not only a place for meals, but also a gathering spot for locals. The building is also available for rent, allowing community members to host their own events and gatherings in a welcoming space.
Recently, to enhance its community outreach, the Tarkio Nutrition Center installed a new LCD sign outside the center. This sign, made possible through the generous support of the Tarkio Rotary Club, displays the weekly menu and invites everyone to participate in the plethora of services and activities offered there.
At the Tarkio Nutrition Center, the staff and volunteers are committed to serving the community, nourishing both the body and the spirit.
