The City of Fairfax Board of Aldermen held a regular meeting August 21, 2024. Mayor Ryan Kingery called the meeting to order at 6:05 p.m. Also in attendance were: Kamron Woodring, Tabitha Wintz, and Debra Wyatt, aldermen; Christy Stevens, City Clerk; and Steve Stevens, city employee.
The tentative agenda was approved.
Property Tax Public Hearing
Bill #2024-5 titled: An ordinance providing for the rate of taxation for general and special purposes within the city of Fairfax, Missouri, for the calendar year 2024 was presented to the council and read by title by Ryan Kingery. Debra Wyatt moved to approve Bill #2024-5 and Tabitha Wintz seconded. The motion passed unanimously. Bill #2024-5 was assigned ordinance #2024-08-1572.
The aldermen approved the regular minutes of the July 17, 2024, meeting.
They also approved accounts payable.
Old Business
A list of nuisance properties was given and city employees will drive around to confirm addresses that are needing letters.
New Business
Debra Wyatt addressed concerns with the foundation under the park stage. Steve Stevens will look into getting quotes for repair.
Staff Reports
Terry Miller, City Treasurer, submitted that all accounts are in balance.
Steve Stevens reported that he is waiting on a quote to remove the park tree that the Fairfax Improvement Foundation wants to replace. They will be starting to dig for meter pits soon to get lids ordered for the new water meters. After they get those dug and ordered they will start installing the LG Sonic industrial line at the lagoons. They also have ordered materials to fix the manhole on South Sly Street.
Christy Stevens, City Clerk, reported that the city auditor should be coming back soon to finish the audit. She also mentioned that they would need to transfer funds to the street lights account soon.
The meeting adjourned at 6:45 p.m. The next meeting is September 18 at 6:00 p.m.
