The East Atchison Wolves hosted the King City Wildcats on Friday, August 30, to start the 2024 football season.
To start the game the Wolves received the ball. Quarterback Blake Simmons would put the first points on the board for the Wolves on a keeper from seven yards out. King City would receive the kick-off and move it to the 30 yard line before fumbling the exchange which was recovered by defensive end Cameron Kephart to give the Wolves good field position. Three plays later, Simmons would hit Cameron Brooks with a 25 yard pass for six points. The two point conversion was good, making the score 14-0 EA. King City would answer back with two scoring possessions bringing the score 14-16 King City.
Starting the second quarter Simmons would punch it in from five yards out to regain the lead, making it 22-16. King City would only score two more times for the entire game. The first was on a long possession and the second was on a safety to make the score 22-24. Cameron Kephart would add two more touchdown to the board for EA with a 20 pass reception from Simmons and a 34 yard reception.
At halftime the Wolves would enter the locker room up 36-24. Simmons, Kephart and Brooks would add three more touchdowns in the second half. This would give the Wolves a 58-24 win over King City. EA’s defense would come up big the second half by keeping the Wildcats out of the end zone.
