The Rock Port branch of the Atchison County Library has a few suggestions for books to read for Book Bingo to inspire you, including a book with a map.

The Atchison County Library invites you to play “Book Bingo” – a community-wide, interactive way to read! Book Bingo is available at all three branches in Tarkio, Fairfax, and Rock Port.

The best part of Book Bingo is that all ages of readers are welcome. There are two Bingo cards at each location. One is for kids, made for independent readers up to age 15. The adult Bingo card is designed for readers 16 and up.

Playing is easy! Everyone plays on the same giant Bingo card. Each Bingo card has prompts that you can choose from. For example, one prompt could be “Read a book with a red cover” or “Read an author’s book who shares your same initials.”  These Bingo squares are meant to inspire patrons to read books they might not regularly choose or discover a new author or genre.

After you have read the book, return it to the library and the librarian will give you a sticker to place on your Bingo square. (Be sure to put your name and contact information on the back of the sticker.) You can read as many books for Bingo as you wish but be sure to include family and friends so that you can fill the squares! The purpose of the game is to make a Bingo line by reading books and encouraging others to read books in the same line. (Regular Bingo rules apply: across, down and diagonal).

The best part is prizes! Each time you fill a square, you will receive a small gift (multiple prizes are available to fit different ages). The grand prizes are very exciting! For every square you finish, you will be entered into a grand prize drawing. For the adult division, the prize is an iPad, 9th Generation, made possible thanks to Rock Port Telephone Co. and Midwest Data Center. For the kids’ grand prize, the winner will receive an adorable giant Squishmallow stuffed animal. Every time you fill a square or complete a Bingo line, you will win an entry into the grand prize drawing, so there are ways to be in the drawing multiples times for an increased chance to win.

There are a few rules: Books must be checked out at the Atchison County libraries to be eligible. Reading one book will only allow for one entry (even if it technically applies to another square). Books have to be read within the time period of the game, which is September through October 24.
