• There will be a rededication service Sunday at the Langdon Lutheran Church. Considerable remodeling has been done including a new art-glass window.
• Because Guy Millsap of West Bend district south of Rock Port has been ill for some time, a number of his neighbors and friends gathered at the Millsap farm Monday morning with 13 tractors and plows to do his fall plowing. Melvin Bros. Oil Co. furnished the gasoline for the tractors.
• Charles Baldwin, who has been here several weeks for a visit with his mother, Mrs. Minnie Baldwin, and other relatives, left by automobile Thursday for faraway Newfoundland, where he works. He secured a new auto while he was here and is driving it back.
• William D. Slemp, a lifelong resident of this county and community, died at his home southeast of town September 26. Mr. Slemp was born September 18, 1878, and was a farmer, engaging in hog breeding and growing a large crop of peaches.

• David Cook, a 1974 Rock Port High School graduate, has taken over the Top Kick Oil Co. business on Hwy. 136 West, formerly owned by Clifford Hill.
• Rock Port’s three new car dealers are busting out all over with the new 1975 models. Conley Bennington Chevrolet-Buick-Opel will be showing a Nova custom coupe Thursday and Friday, Clark Ford-Mercury will have a Ford Elite 2-door hardtop on display Friday and Saturday and Allen Motors will show a Cordoba 2-door hardtop on Tuesday.
• Ambulance service for Atchison County on a limited basis will become a reality October 1. The hospital is staffing one ambulance for the Atchison County area. Major Bain, manager of Browne Memorial Nursing Home in Oregon, Missouri, is operating an ambulance to cover Holt County.

• Jake’s Car Wash celebrated its 10th anniversary Saturday, September 18, with prizes, hot dogs and soda, and a free car wash courtesy of Jake.
• Julie Burke’s and Lisa Freborg’s organizing of “Old Fashioned Saturday Night” was once again a huge success. Clay Pot Flowers and Antiques gave away 500 red roses in less than an hour and Speedy’s dunking tank raised $350 to spend on toys for Christmas Adopt-A-Family.
• The Rock Port Chamber of Commerce held a golf tournament September 17. Seven teams participated and the Chamber cleared $699.75. The winning team was comprised of W.C. Farmer, Tim Taylor, Billy Thomas, and Greg Reichart.
• Vi Jones was honored for her 80th birthday at an open house Saturday, September 18.
• On Wednesday, September 8, Luther Thompson was named the official winner of the Rock Port Iron-Man Contest. Mr. Thompson pressed ahead of the other five contestants to win the title, which was awarded based on a point system upon the number of shirts he was able to iron correctly in 10 minutes.
