Atchison County Development Corporation (ACDC) hosted a Careers on Wheels event Thursday, September 26, 2024, for all Atchison County high school freshmen. On hand at the Rock Port Memorial Park were area businesses that provide mobile services.

ACDC Director Monica Bailey greeted the freshmen and talked to them about the many opportunities that were available to them locally as a possible career path.

Several business were on hand to be interviewed by the students. Businesses included in the event were: Mo Valley Ag, Atchison-Holt Ambulance District, Missouri Department of Conservation, Teten Home Improvement, LLC, Minter Funeral Chapels, Community Home Health & Restorative Care, Hometown Comfort, Atchison County Sheriff’s Office, Tim Morehouse Electrical/Home Maintenance,  Double M Towing, Atchison-Holt Electric Cooperative, and Vestas.

The students were divided into several groups and given a list of questions to ask. They were then given five to six minutes with each business. Hopefully, the freshmen not only left  the park with a list of career paths they find interesting, but ones also available to them in Atchison County.
