Donald Eugene Eastland, 87, Elmo, Missouri, died Thursday, October 24, 2024, at Mosaic Life Care in St. Joseph, Missouri. He was born July 23, 1937, in Ava, Missouri, the son of the late Chester Carl and Ila Lucille (Downs) Eastland.
Donald was united in marriage to Jacqueline Lee Draper on August 4, 1956, in Omaha, Nebraska. To this union five daughters were born: Donna, Janet, Brenda, Barbara, and Rebecca.
Donald was a very faithful member of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church.
He had worked in the masonry profession as a brick layer and loved spending time with all his grandchildren and being a part of their lives. Donald enjoyed being on his tractor and using it to help others out whenever he could. Another favorite pastime of Donald’s was to sit on his front porch and watch all his hummingbirds at his feeders. Anyone who knew him experienced how very big his heart was for helping others.
Donald was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 59 years, Jackie Eastland (October 1, 2015); a daughter, Donna Parnell; two brothers, Harold and Raymond Eastland; and two sisters, Betty Clines and Wanda Knauff. His survivors include: four daughters, Janet Cruth, Elmo, Brenda (Doug) McCoy and Barbara (Bob) Dunekacke, both of Rock Port, Missouri, and Rebecca (Russell) Donaldson, Alliance, Nebraska; 12 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; one brother, Melvin Eastland; and one sister, Imogene White.
Graveside services and burial were held Monday, October 28, 2024, at the LaMar Cemetery, Elmo.Arrangements were under the direction of Schooler Funeral Home Fairfax/Craig. Online condolences may be left at andrewshannfuneralhome.com.
