Four individuals and one team will be inducted into the Peru State College Athletic Hall of Fame on Saturday, November 2. The induction ceremony will be held at halftime of the Bobcats’ football game against Culver-Stockton College which begins at 1:00 p.m.

Thunder in the Oaks

Prior to the football game, the athletic department will be hosting its second annual Thunder in the Oaks. Peru State is inviting motorcyclists to drive onto the field and join in revving their engines in unison before they lead the team out onto the field.

Hall of Fame Inductees

The 32nd Hall of Fame class to be inducted includes John Creamer, Jr., Hampton, Connecticut; Jerry Eickhoff, Lincoln, Nebraska; Pat Mertens, Hastings, Nebraska; Sarah (Williams) Murray, Tarkio, Missouri; and the 1994 Bobcat baseball team.

Creamer played football and baseball. Eickhoff is being honored for his meritorious service as a high school coach in Hampton, Nebraska. Mertens was a standout football player. Murray, who was originally from Hiawatha, Kansas, was a national qualifier in cross country.

The 1994 Bobcat baseball team was the winningest team at that point after 40 years of Peru State baseball. Members of the team on the roster who had statistics included: Pitchers – Tony Duffek, Mark Elsener, Shawn Exner, Greg Formanski, Scott Kier, Chris Michael, and Chris Raabe; Catchers – Matt Grewe and Greg Larsen; Infielders – Greg Bentz, Scott Bullock, Matt Miller, Wes Patch, Duncan Patterson, and Dallas Williams; and Outfielders – B.J. Coburn, Dan LaJoie, Andy Plummer, Raabe, and Steve Young. Mike Maroney was a returning senior and expected to contribute, but suffered an injury prior to the season.
