Coach Angela Mace presented a medal to Malachi Skillen, Rock Port, at the state meet. He placed 23rd with a time of 17:52.4.

The MSHSAA Class 1 State Cross Country Championship was held Friday, November 8, 2024, at Gans Creek Cross Country Course in Columbia, Missouri.

Three Atchison County runners medaled and earned All-State recognition. Norah Watkins, Rock Port, placed 12th with a time of 20:57.3; Jayla Irvine, East Atchison, placed 26th with a time of 21:51.2; and Malachi Skillen, Rock Port, placed 23rd with a time of 17:52.4.

There were 153 runners in the girls’ 5k. The EA Lady Wolves placed 10th as a team. Individual results for the Lady Wolves are as follows: Bella Bywater, 83rd, 24:11.7; Abbie Harms, 85th, 24:14.0; Danika Agnew, 116th, 25:32.7; Macy Stepp, 124th, 25:45.3; Bresayda Jimenez, 145th, 29:19.3; and Rhoni Caudill, 148th, 30:15.1.

Evelyn Heintz, Rock Port, placed 104th with a time of 24:56.5.

There were 173 runners competing in the boys’ 5k race. Individual results for the EA Wolves are as follows: Quin Staten, 55th, 18:39.9; Cole Anderson, 64th, 18:52.2; and Clayton Vernon, 66th, 18:53.2.

Macy Stepp (EA) placed 124th with a time of 25:45.3.

 

Bresayda Jimenez (EA) placed 145th with a time of 29:19.3.

 

Rhoni Caudill (EA) placed 148th with a time of 30:15.1.
