David Neal Riley, the son of Willard Frank and Dolly Luena (Hicks) Riley, was born August 12, 1940, in Colfax Township in rural Tarkio, Missouri. David attended Tarkio High School.
David spent his childhood on Ranch 9 in rural Tarkio. Following high school, David was employed by Scamman Farms in the Tarkio area. David then moved to Iowa and for 15 years was employed by Henry Fields Nursery in Shenandoah, Iowa. Later, David moved to southern Missouri and was employed at a sawmill.
At an early age, David received Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. He had a vibrant and active relationship with the LORD, and while in south Missouri he preached at local churches. He was a lifetime member of the Assembly of God Church. In 2002, he retired and moved “closer to home” living in Burlington Junction, Missouri. Due to ill health, David had recently moved to Tiffany Heights Care Center, Mound City, Missouri. David passed away Saturday, November 23, 2024, in Mound City, at the age of 84.
Besides his parents, David was preceded in death by infant brother, Junior Riley; brothers, Elic Riley and Donald Riley; and sisters, Gladie Lois (Raymond) Thacker, Ima Jean (Harmon) Deering, and Beverly (John) Hunley. Survivors include sisters, Brenda Daniels (Randy Brooks), Tarkio, and Angela (Steve) Jacobs, Topeka, Kansas; brothers, Anthony Scott Riley, Springfield, Missouri, Gary (Carla) Riley, Tarkio, and Steve (Carol) Riley, Tarkio; sisters-in-law, Connie Riley, Tarkio, and Karen Riley, Elmo, Missouri; stepdaughter, Racheal Grider; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A graveside service and interment was held Tuesday, November 26, 2024, at Home Cemetery, Tarkio, conducted by Rev. Todd Staples. Memorials may be directed to Davis Funeral Home for final expenses.
