The Tarkio High School Musical Theatre Department presented its 21st production this past weekend. Taking the stage as news reporter Katherine Plummer was senior Lizzie Schlueter.

 

Her father, Joseph Pulitzer, was played by Gabe Harms.

 

Besides singing, the Tarkio High School students who took the stage to bring Newsies to life also had some spectacular dancing scenes. Pictured above are Rhoni Caudill, Macy Stepp, Taya Windham, and Bailey Wennihan.

Tarkio High School Musical Theatre Department presented Disney’s “Newsies The Broadway Musical” this past weekend in the THS Auditorium. Based on the Disney film written by Bob Tzudiker and Noni White and originally produced on Broadway by Disney Theatrical Productions and with music by Alan Menken, lyrics by Jack Feldman, and book by Harvey Fierstein, Newsies is inspired by the real-life newsboys strike of 1899 in New York City, New York.

Quin Staten’s New York accent and melodic singing voice as Frank Kelly, Brody Wennihan’s charismatic Crutchie, River Dow’s and Abbie Harm’s hilarious portrayals of sibling duo Davey and Les, Lizzie Schlueter’s authentic embodiment of Katherine Plumber, Kamryn Brown’s compassionate and candid Medda Larkin, Gabe Harm’s humorous acting as Joseph Pulitzer, Bo Peregrine’s spot on casting as Teddy Roosevelt, and all the others left the audience spellbound. Besides the singing, the production even included some amazing dancing scenes. Now in its 21st season, the Tarkio High School Musical Theatre productions never disappoint.
