Candidate filing for the April 8, 2025, Municipal Election begins Tuesday, December 10, 2024, at 8:00 a.m. Anyone interested in filing should check the following information:

FAIRFAX

Openings with the City of Fairfax include mayor (four-year term) and two At Large openings (two-year term on each position).

There are also two board positions open on the Fairfax R-3 School Board (three-year term on each position). Filing for school board positions will be in the Superintendent’s office during their regular office hours, except for opening and closing day of filing, 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m.

ROCK PORT

Openings with the City of Rock Port include mayor (two-year term), North Ward Alderman (two-year term), and South Ward Alderman (two-year term).

There are also two board positions open on the Rock Port R-II School Board (three-year term on each position). Filing for school board positions will be in the Superintendent’s office during their regular office hours, except for opening and closing day of filing, 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m.

TARKIO

Openings with the City of Tarkio include North Ward Alderman (two-year term) and South Ward Alderman (two-year term).

There are two board positions open on the Tarkio R-I School Board (three-year term on each position).  Filing for school board positions will be in the Superintendent’s office during their regular office hours, except for opening and closing day of filing, 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m.

VILLAGE OF WATSON

There are three At-Large Trustee openings (two-year term on each position) with the Village of Watson. The Watson filing location is 205 Linden Street.

WESTBORO

Openings in Westboro include mayor (two-year term) and two At-Large openings (two-year term on each position).

The Westboro filing location is at the Atchison County Clerk’s office at the Atchison County Courthouse or file with the Westboro City Clerk by e-mailing clerkwestboro@gmail.com for an appointment.

ROAD DISTRICTS

The Tarkio Special Road District, Phelps City Special Road District, Watson Special Road District, and Langdon Special Road District will each have one opening (three-year term) for commissioner.

Filing will be in the Atchison County Clerk’s office at the courthouse during their regular office hours, except for opening and closing day of filing, 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m.

Atchison-Holt Ambulance District

The Atchison-Holt Ambulance District will have openings in two of its sub-districts:

Sub District #2 (Atchison County Townships of Clay and Benton) has one position open (three-year term)

Sub District #5 (Holt County Townships of Clay and Benton) has one position open (three-year term).

Filings are done with the District Board Secretary at the Atchison-Holt Ambulance office during regular office hours, except for opening and closing day of filing, which will be 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Public Water Supply District No. 1 of Atchison County

The Public Water Supply District No. 1 of Atchison County will have openings in two of its sub-districts:

Sub District #4 will have one position open (three-year term)

Sub District #5 will have one position open (three-year term)

Filing will be in the Atchison County Clerk’s office at the courthouse during their regular office hours, except for opening and closing day of filing, 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m.

All candidates for every position listed will be required to file a Form 5120 (Affidavit of paid taxes). It must be presented before you can file. They are available at each filing location or online at www.dor.mo.gov.

Candidates for districts that have over a one million dollar operating budget will be required to file a personal financial disclosure statement.

The deadline for candidate filing is Tuesday, December 31, 2024, at 5:00 p.m.
