Zola Straub was happy to see Santa at Fairfax Light Night.

 

Fairfax held its annual Light Night Saturday, November 30, 2024. Anna Ohlensehlen, this year’s Miss Fairfax, turned on the lights for the displays at the city park.

 

Little Mr. and Miss Fairfax, Jack Clement and Everlee Smith, led the group in a song at Light Night.

Fairfax Improvement Foundation decorated the park with a joy sign, Reese’s all around the Boy Scout cabin, and various lights. They placed second in the lighting contest.

 

Bob and Marilyn Alldredge won first place in the lighting contest with this tree, decorated in memory of Robbie Alldredge.

 

The Fairfax Optimist Club placed third with their tree of lights.

 

The Miller twins, Lottie and Belle, were excited to share their list with Santa.

Fairfax celebrated the beginning of the holiday season with the annual Light Night festivities Saturday, November 30.

Miss Fairfax 2024 Anna Ohlensehlen had the honor of turning the Christmas lights on at the Fairfax City Park. Little Mr. and Miss Fairfax Nash Stevens and Scout Smith also added to the festivities by leading the group in a song. Prizes and goodies were handed out to the youth in attendance, and Santa stopped by to visit with the excited youngsters.

Winners of the park’s lighting contest were announced. Display winners were: first place, Bob and Marilyn Alldredge; second place, Fairfax Improvement Foundation; and third place, Fairfax Optimist Club.

Businesses that participated by decorating the front of their buildings with lights were Rays’ Dairy Diner, Fertilizer Service Company, KG Buds, Fairfax Agency, Daybreak Cafe, and Atchison County Library.

Businesses and individuals making donations to provide prizes were Fairfax Optimist  Club, Fairfax Agency, Fairfax Kiwanis Club, Brandon and Maria Reed, Lonnie Graves Hair Barn, Theresa Larson, Ryan and Jill Kingery, Suzanne Southard, Cheryl Chastain, Kent and Barb Fisher, Lane and Aimeé Seymour, and Tony and Lisa Mitchell.
