Area beef producers should make plans to attend the annual Three-State Beef Conference that is scheduled for January 14, 15 and 16, 2025, with locations in Missouri, Iowa, and Nebraska. The Three-State Beef Conference is designed to give beef cattle producers and others in the beef industry a regular update on current cow-calf and stocker topics. The conference provides a forum of specialists from three of the United States’ leading beef cattle land grant universities as well as other industry experts. All sessions will be held during the evening to help accommodate producers who work off the farm during the day.
The theme for this year’s conference is “A Systems Approach to Address Common Issues in Beef Cow-Calf Production for Longer-Term Success.” Topics and speakers for the conference are as follows: “The Genetics of Calving,” Dr. Randy Culbertson, Assistant Professor and Cow-Calf Extension Specialist, Iowa State University; “Yearling Bull Development and Management,” Dr. Kacie McCarthy, Beef Cow-Calf Specialist, University of Nebraska – Lincoln; “An Update on Recent Bovine Pinkeye Research and Implications for Management in Beef Cattle,” Dr. Matt Hille, DVM, MS, PhD, Diagnostic Pathologist and Extension Specialist, University of Nebraska – Lincoln.
The first session of the conference will be held Tuesday, January 14, in Maryville, Missouri, at the Northwest Missouri State Agricultural Learning Center. Registration will be at 5:30 p.m. and the program will begin at 6:00 p.m. The Iowa session will be held Wednesday, January 15, in Greenfield at the Warren Cultural Center. It also begins with registration at 5:30 p.m. and the program following at 6:00 p.m. On Thursday, January 16, the session will be held in Nebraska at the Nebraska Cattlemen’s Office in Lincoln. Registration for the Lincoln location will begin at 5:30 p.m. and the meeting will start at 6:00 p.m.
Attendees are requested to pre-register by Friday, January 10, 2025. Calling or e-mailing with your reservation helps with meal plans and also helps keep costs down. Missouri producers should contact the Atchison County Extension Office at 660-744-6231 to register. Iowa producers should contact the Adair County Extension office at 641-743-8412 to register, and Nebraska producers should contact the University of Nebraska Animal Science Department at 402-472-6074 to register. The registration fee is $30 per person, and it includes a meal and copy of the conference proceedings.
