Thursday of last week was an exciting day for the Atchison-Holt Ambulance District as its 2008 Dodge ambulance was sent off to be remounted. Remounting the trucks is just one way the district can use its money effectively, stretching the dollar to the max, while providing a safe and reliable ambulance for patient care. Remounting a truck is a process that involves using an existing truck’s parts and components to create a new truck with a new cab and chassis assembly. It’s a common practice in the emergency medical services (EMS) industry. Each truck box that the district has can be remounted up to three times, if all conditions for the remount are present.
