Tony was born in Fairfax and graduated from Fairfax High School in 1978. He attended a trade school to master the art of carpentry in Chillicothe, Missouri. He worked for Ireland Feed and Seed and later purchased it along with his brother-in-law Jess Johnson. Tony spent a good majority of his adult life working in food production including Missouri Beef Packers in Rock Port until it closed and Cargill Meat Solutions in Nebraska City, Nebraska, for 20 years where he was a production supervisor.
Tony retired as a farm hand in December of 2022. He enjoyed building, crafting, and doing any type of home remodeling tasks his wife, family, or friends had for him. Some of his favorite pastimes were gardening with his brother Duke, sitting around a fire listening to Johnny Cash with his brother Frank and family and friends, and being surrounded by family with pasta and sauce on the stove. In August of 2024, Tony and Wendy finalized the adoption of their grandson, Xavion. In his last few years he spent most of his time surrounded by his children and grandchildren.
Tony was a loving, caring, kindhearted, and selfless man. He will be remembered as the man who would do anything for anybody and give even when he did without. He will be missed by many.
A graveside service and celebration of life will be held at a later date. The family would like to thank each and every one who has reached out to offer comfort, prayers, and condolences in their time of loss and grief. Memorials may be directed to the family to help with final expenses.
