Rock Port, Fairfax, and Tarkio High School music students participated in the Four-State Honor Band performance at Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville, Missouri, Saturday, January 18, 2024.

The symphonic band performed “As Twilight Falls” by Robert Sheldon, “Falcon Fanfare” by Brian Balmages,  “Three Minutes to Midnight” by JaRod Hall, and “Festivals on the River” by Bob Grice. Rock Port performers were Jaymes Herron, Ryan Lucas, Brandon Athen, Alex Schuster, Mya Welch, Audrey Dougherty, and Sophia Storm. Fairfax performers were Lexi Brown, Amelia Larson, and Chloe Vernon. Tarkio performers were Alyson Wooten and Luke Morey.

Tarkio’s Abbie Harms played her clarinet in the Four-State Wind Ensemble, which performed “Fanfare and Flourishes” by James Curnow,  “Three Musical Haikus” by Stephen Melillo, and “Mother of a Revolution” by Omar Thomas.

It was a big day for the kids to show off their skills, including Luke, who was an alternate called up to perform with the percussion, and Audrey, who was given music to play bells, bass drum, suspended cymbal, tambourine and vibraslap, all instruments she’s never played before. All of the performers did a fantastic job!
