On January 22, 2025, the Tarkio Police Department, Atchison County Sheriff’s Office, and Missouri Department of Conservation investigated an incident in Tarkio, Missouri.

Law enforcement was contacted about a theft from a vehicle in the Dollar General parking lot in Tarkio. A purse containing an iPhone 14 Pro, a blue and silver Kodak digital camera, and other minor personal effects had been stolen out of a vehicle. Upon further investigation and utilizing camera surveillance, law enforcement identified the suspect.

Upon contacting the suspect, the stolen purse, iPhone, camera, and other contents were located in the suspect’s possession. He admitted to parking next to the victim’s vehicle, seeing the items located in the car, unlawfully entering the car and stealing the items, and returning home with them.

Nathanial Schlup was arrested and taken to the Atchison County Jail in Rock Port, Missouri. He has since been charged with Stealing – $750 Or More.
