East Atchison is celebrating its 2025 Winter Homecoming this week. The students will be participating in a number of activities throughout the week, culminating in homecoming basketball games that begin at 6:00 p.m. Friday, February 7, in Fairfax, with the homecoming royalty coronation ceremony to be held immediately following the games.

TARKIO HOMECOMING ACTIVITIES

This year’s THS winter homecoming theme is Musical Genres: The Sound of Victory. Queen candidates are Charley Caudill, Abbie Harms, and Lizzie Schlueter. King candidates are Alex Erickson and Colton Hall. Homecoming attendants are: freshmen – Hallie Riggins and Jax Peregrine; sophomores – Grace Caudill and Braxton Melton-Davis; and juniors – Zoe Madron and Bo Peregrine.

The students will be decorating banners to go along with the theme and hanging them in the school hallways: seniors – rock ’n roll; juniors – country; sophomores – rap/hip hop; freshmen – blues; 8th graders – Disney; 7th graders – pop; and 6th graders – disco.

Students are also encouraged to participate in homecoming dress-up days throughout the week: Monday – pajama day; Tuesday – tacky Tues. (wear tacky clothes); Wednesday – genre day (dress like your class musical genre); Thursday – twin day or opposites attract; and Friday – Wolves spirit day.

Class contests will also be held throughout the week: Monday – ships and sailors; Tuesday – air mattress relay; Wednesday – basketball shootout; Thursday – dodgeball; and Friday – pep rally in Fairfax gym.

FAIRFAX HOMECOMING ACTIVITIES

This year’s FHS winter homecoming theme is Musical Genres: We are the Champions. Queen candidate is Grace Oswald and king candidates are Mason Kingery and Carter Oswald. Queen attendants are Anna Ohlensehlen and Chloe Vernon and the king attendant is Lataveon Brown.

They will also be participating in the following dress-up days: Monday – pajama day; Tuesday – dynamic duo/twins day; Wednesday – throwback day; Thursday – farmer vs. formal; and Friday – EA spirit day.

ACTIVITIES FOR TARKIO AND FAIRFAX

A pep rally will be held Friday, February 7, for both schools in the Fairfax gym.

The Tarkio Vive18 Team is hosting a pre-game event for both Fairfax and Tarkio students in grades 6-8 from 4:30 to 6:00 p.m. at the THS gym and a post-game event for grades 9-12 after the game until 11:00 p.m. at the THS gym. Dancing, pizza, cornhole, and a photobooth will be provided.
