The Atchison County Commission met Thursday, February 20, 2025. Present were: Presiding Commissioner Curtis Livengood, South District Commissioner Richard Burke, and North District Commissioner Jim Quimby. Susette Taylor, Clerk of the Commission, was attending the February Missouri Association of Counties executive board meeting.
Presiding Commissioner Livengood called the meeting to order.
Minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved.
Bills were reviewed and approved for payment.
Additions and abatements to the tax books were approved as follows:
January 2025: Personal Property – Additions to the tax books: 2024, $10,477.57; 2023, $2,838.65; 2022, $2,134.61; 2021, $873.41. Abatements to the tax books: 2024, $238.56. There were no additions or abatements to the tax books for real estate or ag rock.
Road and Bridge Supervisor Kenny Wallace was in to discuss department matters. Assessor Rochelle Long provided a GIS map drawing to add a county right-of-way along a short section of road dividing RCDM Martin Farm, LLC, and Sly Farms, LLC, in Township 64, Range 39W. Presiding Commissioner Livengood will meet with Attorney Dan Smith to discuss obtaining a legal description of the right-of-way.
Sheriff Andy Riley was in to provide the commission with a department update.
Collector Diane Livengood provided a software report for approval to outlaw 2019 personal property taxes in the amount of $4,931.46 and 2020 personal property taxes in the amount of $2,477.38. She stated that the individuals on the report are deceased or multiple attempts to contact them have been unsuccessful, meaning they no longer reside in Atchison County. After review, voted to outlaw 2019 and 2020 personal property delinquent taxes as presented.
There being no further business, the commission adjourned.
