• Showing at the Paramount Theatre in Rock Port: “Hoedown” with Eddie Arnold, “Shine On, Harvest Moon” with Roy Rogers, and “Take Me Out To The Ball Game” with Gene Kelly, Frank Sinatra, and Esther Williams.
• Some 200 members of the American Legion and Legion Auxiliary and their guests attended the annual Legion birthday party at the Memorial Building, celebrating the 31st anniversary of the Legion.
• Wednesday of next week, March 22, will mark the 30th anniversary of the first pouring of concrete in Rock Port’s street-paving project.
March 13, 1975
• Rock Port City Hall has been robbed twice in three weeks. The city lost $40 cash on February 14 and $66 cash and four checks totalling $22 on March 4. At least one of the thefts occurred during the noon hour when the money was in the safe and the doors to the building were locked. Police gave lie detector tests to two people who were both cleared by the results.
• A free-throw tournament was recently held. Diana Gebhards placed 1st, Jerry Michaels placed 2nd, Richard Whitford placed 3rd, and Kym Haynes placed 4th.
• Showing at the Paramount Theatre in Rock Port: “That’s Entertainment,” “Boxcar Bertha,” and “Blazing Saddles.”
• Richard Miller opened a new business at the corner of Main and Calhoun in Rock Port called Miller’s Automotive Service and Repair, located in the same building as Pfeil’s Body Shop.
• Cooperative Occupational Education (C.O.E.) is now in its second year in the Rock Port R-II School District. The class consists of nine students receiving on-the-job training: John Amthor, Rolf Fertilizer; Joni Barnhart, Espey Animal Clinic; Sherry Bogenreif, Citizens Bank; Greg Groff, Rolf Fertilizer; Don Murdock, MBPXL; Sheryl Rybnick, Bank of Atchison County; Glenn Taylor, Town & Country Drug; Robert Wolf, Bennington Chevrolet-Buick; and Floyd Wooten, Board of Public Works.
• Mr. Elmer L. Andermann, 75, Rock Port resident most of his life, passed away March 7. Mr. Andermann began working in the Rock Port Post Office in 1921. Except for a period of army service during WWII, he remained at his work until retirement after 45 years as a postal clerk.

• A bank robber who robbed a bank and shot an off duty policeman in Omaha, Nebraska, was spotted driving south on the interstate in Atchison County, Missouri, and a pursuit began. After he avoided spike strips by crossing the median about 14 miles north of St. Joseph and headed back north, he eventually pulled over and surrendered. He and his accomplice (who was arrested at the bank) are suspects in six bank robberies in three states.
• Don Mobley, Livestock Specialist, is retiring effective March 31. A retirement reception will be held in his honor on April 8 at the Velma Houts Fair Building in Rock Port. Mobley has served the University of Missouri Outreach and Extension for 43 years.
• Glenn Littles is the new manager at True Value in Rock Port.
• Robert Hurst Fay passed away March 5. He and his family moved to Rock Port in 1949, where he owned and operated Rock Port Hardware. Bob was the second Eagle Scout in Atchison County and as an adult served as Cub and Scout Master, and was also a member of and served with the Chamber of Commerce, Rotary, American Legion, Pool Board, School Board, Rock Port Telephone Company Board, National Telephone Cooperative Association, and Rock Port Volunteer Fire Department.
