• Showing at The Tarkio theatre: “Pinky” with Jeannie Crain and Ethel Barrymore, and “On Our Merry Way” with Paulette Goddard and Fred MacMurray.
• The fine arts department of the Tarkio Women’s Club will host an art exhibit featuring local artists. The main exhibit will be that of Mrs. C.B. McMullen, known for her portrait painting. Other exhibitors will be Mrs. Clarence Kirkendoll, Mrs. H.V. Findley (Esther Hopkins), John M. Stevenson, Mrs. Alfred Shortridge, Mrs. Lee Roy Hooper, and Mrs. Myra Baker Low.
• Robert Martin has sold the Tarkio Electric Company at 402 Main Street to Jack Gilstrap.
• An estimated 30 people attended a demonstration of grain bin driers and Vac-U-Vator Tuesday at the Tarkio bin site on Hwy. 59 south of town. Members of the state Production and Marketing Administration committee, Atchison County PMA committee, and committee members from nearby counties attended the demonstration of machinery which will be used in keeping the corn stored at various sites in the county.

• Byron Freeman of Tarkio was chosen as the District Rotarian of the Year for 1974-75 at a dinner meeting March 15. Selection was made by a committee from the 31 clubs in District No. 603 in northwest Missouri. Byron is president of the Tarkio Rotary Club and is the manager of the Atchison County office of the St. Joseph Production Credit Association.
• The Tarkio High School Band, under the direction of Ed Roberts, received a I rating at the District Music Festival held in Maryville. Of the 33 bands that participated in the contest, only 12 received the much sought after I rating. Tarkio was the only band to receive a I from all four judges.
• Tarkio’s weather was a contrast in temperatures this past week with a high of 71 degrees on the 19th and a low of 15 degrees on the 25th.
• Mrs. Wayman Hannah, Tarkio, picked the correct number of a flower bed of Earl May’s Trial Gardens open house in Shenandoah, Iowa. Earl May sent Mrs. Hannah all of the flower seeds to make the flower beds at their farm home.
• The Market Basket in Tarkio advertised specials on flowers for Easter: Memory Lane jumbo roses, $1.19; twin pack of roses, $1.69; flowering shrubs, 89¢; and Promotion rose, 89¢.
• Foosball and pinball contests were recently held in Tarkio. Winners of the foosball contest were Gregg Hixson, Mark Gibreal, Mrs. Maxine Herrick, Bob Cheesebrough, Bill Green, Rick Callen, Steve Rogers, and Gail Neilsen. Winners of the pinball contest were Bob Swope, Mrs. Maxine Herrick, and David Stevens.

• Graveside memorial services were held March 20 at Tarkio Home Cemetery for Norman Van McNeal, 90. Van was a lifelong resident of Tarkio and was a retired postmaster of Tarkio, where he worked for over 40 years with the United States Postal Service.
• The Tarkio Volunteer Fire Department held a successful Firemen’s Ball Saturday, March 18. The fundraising event brought in around $2,000 to be used for new equipment and fire school expenses. Some of the proceeds will go toward the purchase of a used ambulance from the Atchison-Holt Ambulance District, which will be redesigned as a rescue vehicle for the fire department.
