• John McCoy, Jr., two and one-half year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. John McCoy of Skidmore, Missouri, has been a patient at the Fairfax Community Hospital for about 10 days, where he is being treated for meningitis. This is the first case since the hospital opened that it has been necessary to use the isolation ward. It is reported that John is much improved and may be able to return home soon.
• A meeting called by Miss Augusta E. White, organizing regent for Atchison County, was held at Rock Port Tuesday afternoon for the purpose of completing the organization of the new William White Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. William White, Mayflower passenger and father of Peregrinne White, first white child born in the Plymouth colony, is a direct ancestor of the organizing regent.
• Sgt. Virgil W. Donelson of Fairfax has recently been assigned with the 24th General Supply Squadron at Clark Air Force Base in Central Luzon, Philippines.
• Showing at the Fair Theatre in Fairfax: “Fighter Squadron” boasting an all-star cast; and “Rope of Sand” with Burt Lancaster and Peter Lorre.
• Craven Implement Co. in Fairfax is offering a free trial for 30 days of an International Harvest freezer, installed in your home at no charge or obligation.

• Congressman Jerry Litton will be the featured speaker at the annual Future Farmers of America Parent and Son Banquet Tuesday, April 1, at Fairfax High School. J. Hayden Pyeatt, ag instructor, and members of the department want to share the opportunity to hear the young politician from the Sixth District and invite all interested persons to join in the meeting following the awards’ program.
• Specials at Hunter’s Hy-Klas food store in Fairfax include: Kraft miniature marshmallows, 10 ounce package for 39¢; Dole fully cooked hams, 79¢ per pound; Glad trash bags, 10 count package for 69¢; cinnamon rolls, delivered fresh daily, 69¢; and Velveeta cheese, 2 pound loaf for $1.49.
• W. L. Harrington has accepted a position with Tarkio City Water Department, which takes charge of the facility from St. Joseph Light and Power April 1. Mr. Harrington was previously a long-time employee of the City of Fairfax and manager of the water plant.

• Pack #73 of the Fairfax Cub Scouts met Saturday, March 18, for their monthly pack meeting at the Fairfax Community Room.
• Fairfax Sorosis met Monday afternoon, March 13, with Florence Anderson as hostess. The following new officers were elected: Nancy VanGundy, president; Barbara Jones, vice-president; Nola Ilsley, secretary; Marie Emrick, corresponding secretary; Mary Anne Pennel, treasurer; and Evonne Wright, critic.
• Esther Southard of Fairfax recently donated several afghans that she made to the Community for Kids Preschool in Fairfax.
• The Fairfax City Council has voted to provide water at no cost to use for watering the football field during the summer with the understanding that it will be reviewed each month and if there is a water shortage, they will have to discontinue watering the field.
