Anita Sutter, treasurer of the Tarkio/Westboro/Fairfax Food Pantry, was the guest speaker at the March 18 meeting of the Fairfax Kiwanis Club.

The Fairfax Kiwanis Club met Tuesday, March 18. Guest speaker was Anita Sutter, Fairfax.

Anita, the treasurer since 2013, gave an update on the Tarkio/Westboro/Fairfax Food Pantry. Donations of food and money keep the food pantry supplied to serve around 50 families in the towns aforementioned.

Judy Hensen is the director and she has volunteers from 11 different churches to keep the food pantry open nine hours a month. The Harrington brothers of Tarkio gifted the building to the Food Pantry Board and the volunteers have been good stewards of the premises.

Those obtaining food and items, on the designated days, remain in their vehicles and must choose their wants from a list presented to them. Volunteers deliver the supplies to those in line for food and supplies. The food pantry has served many over the years back to at least the 1980s. Donations from the public are welcome.
