• Arrangements are being made to have the annual Easter cantata, that will be presented next Sunday evening at the Presbyterian Church, transmitted to the Fairfax Community Hospital by telephone and then amplified and broadcast for the enjoyment of hospital patients. George Chamberlain of Rock Port, florist and photographer, will rig up the equipment and present the broadcast as compliments of his studio and greenhouse.
• Billy Umbarger of Fairfax, Troop 73 Boy Scout, has been chosen to attend the National Boy Scout Jamboree at Valley Forge, Pennsylvania, in June. He will be the first boy from Fairfax to attend this event, which will also have him sightseeing in Philadelphia, New York City, and Washington, D.C.
• Richard Pearce has sold the building in which the Fairfax Post Office is now located to C.J. Brandon of Arcanum, Ohio. Mr. Brandon is a former Fairfax resident who at one time was in the hardware business here.
April 3, 1975
• Temporary lay-offs at the Fairfax and Mound City Manufacturing Plants have affected some 60 locals employed at the two businesses. Owner James K. Hunter stated that lay-offs were due to a slow-down in the economy and inflated material and production costs.
• The Fairfax Ministerial Alliance’s Good Friday service drew in a crowd of 143 people at the Baptist Church. An offering of $117.59 was received to be used toward a movie projector.
• As of press time on Wednesday, three inches of snow had fallen and is continuing. Much cooler temperatures were forecast for overnight.
• Mrs. Clement and Mrs. Sutter delighted the kindergarten class March 27 with an Easter Egg Hunt at the school. Ice cream and a cake in the shape of a lamb were enjoyed by all.

• Lane and Aimée Seymour and family had four special friends for lunch and an afternoon chat March 24. Barry and Marcia Wyatt from Melbourne, Australia, were visiting Harve and Joyce Soderholm of Lincoln, Nebraska, and the four came to Fairfax to visit. The Seymours and Soderholms spent several days in Melbourne last year in the Wyatt’s home. The Wyatts are currently on a six-week round-the-world trip.
• The Fairfax Kiwanis Club met March 21, with 21 members present. New members Kent Fisher, Jack Vernon, Marilyn Alldredge, Bob Eaton, and Rev. Chet Mason were inducted.
• Cheerleaders for next year’s football and basketball teams were selected at Fairfax R-3: Jennifer Wooten (mascot); football cheerleaders – Lacy Moore, Courtney Sinkhorn, Katy Hunter, Briana Umbarger, Tabitha Taylor, and Jenea Kemerling (captain); basketball cheerleaders – Courtney Sinkhorn, Maria Pinzino, Briana Umbarger, Tabitha Taylor, Jenea Kemerling, and LeAnn Graves (captain); and junior high cheerleaders – Bethany Graves, Ashley Gomel, and Andrea Ilsley.
• The Fairfax third graders collected the most box tops and were rewarded with a pizza party on March 24.
• The 46th annual County Government Day was held March 23 at the Atchison County Courthouse in Rock Port. There were 17 students from Fairfax who attended, as well as 25 from Tarkio, and 22 from Rock Port.
