Several local churches have members who have joined together in a Jesus Apprentice book study during the Lenten season this year. The Jeff Kirby study has been taking place at the Good News Church in Tarkio, Missouri; however, members from churches throughout Atchison County have taken part in this non-denominational event. In conjunction with the study, several members of the group took part in a community service project on Thursday evening, March 27. Study group participants, along with family members and friends, picked up trash around Tarkio for one hour from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. In addition to gathering trash that had blown around with the recent winds, group members stopped along the streets and prayed for the residents living along those streets. Being an apprentice to Jesus means to serve others as well as preach, teach, heal and push away darkness in the world. (Submitted photo)
