The Atchison County Commission met Thursday, March 27, 2025. Present were: Presiding Commissioner Curtis Livengood, South District Commissioner Richard Burke, North District Commissioner Jim Quimby, and Susette Taylor, Clerk of the Commission.
Presiding Commissioner Livengood called the meeting to order.
Minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved.
Bills were reviewed and approved for payment.
The commission reviewed the Sourcewell bid for a used SUV for the Sheriff’s Department. Because it was considerably less than the same one bid for the Emergency Management office and it was available, the commission voted to accept the state bid from ESU Pursuits through Sourcewell to purchase a 2022 Tahoe in the amount of $48,795.00.
The commission signed a letter at the request of Crystal Woodring, director of Northwest Missouri Living Center, to U.S. House and Senate leadership requesting they reject Medicaid cuts.
Rhonda Wiley, Emergency Management Director, was in to present the Commenco software agreement for April 2025 to March 2026. After review and discussion, the commissioners voted to approve the agreement.
Director Wiley also showed the commission some examples of tables needed for the new conference room, but final decision was tabled until their next meeting.
Maintenance Supervisor Jack Wiley was in to report that Mid-Continental Restoration was working to move some projects around so they can get here to address the bricks on the front of the building as soon as possible. He also reported on some sewer concerns that will need to be fixed with the line from the sheriff’s building to the main line. The commission felt this was an emergency repair issue that needs to be addressed and requested that he get an estimate of the cost as soon as possible.
Alex Dandy with the Northwest Missouri Regional Council of Governments met with the commission to give an update on public outreach goals. He provided an overview of the services they provide, discussed their new updated website and highlighted their grant intake form that can be found on their website. This form can be used as a tool to reach out to them for services and grant opportunities. He also updated the commission on the current board seats and vacancies.
Clerk Taylor provided the commission with draft copies of some school resource officer documents for them to review before their next session.
There being no further business, the commission adjourned.
