A buffet dinner was enjoyed by attendees of Community Hospital-Fairfax and the Community Healthcare Foundation’s “The Late Show with CH-F A night of 70s nostalgia and laughs” Saturday, April 12, 2025, at the Atchison County Memorial Building.
Community Hospital Foundation Director Kris Umbarger and Community Hospital-Fairfax CEO Julie Jones welcomed all in attendance and thanked the sponsors.
Casey Martin embodied Johnny Carson from “The Late Show Starring Johnny Carson” to bring wise cracks and laughter to the crowd of the hospital’s show Saturday evening in Rock Port.
Lexi Brown sang “The Star Spangled Banner.”
Mikaela Sons performed Dolly Parton’s “Jolene” and Carole King’s “I Feel The Earth Move.”
The Ladies in Black, Lynn Hunter, Deb Johnson, and Terry Jackson, sang “Afternoon Delight” by the Starland Vocal Band. Adding to the merriment was Casey Martin, who set off confetti poppers perfectly timed to the music.
Crystal Woodring, right, and her daughter, Parker, left, sang John Denver’s “Take Me Home, Country Roads” and got the crowd to join in with the last verse.
Richard Oswald as Allen Ludden, middle, hosted “The Password Game” with Mike and Sandy Fisher and Gracie and Max Hopkins acting as contestants.
It was impossible to keep a straight face and not fall over from laughter, as evidenced by Dr. Burke, above second from right, when Casey Martin pretended to be Carnac the Magnificent. Also pictured are doctors Mina Massey and Dustin Carpenter.
Erica Taylor, Kristi Spellman, Kris Umbarger, and Rebekah Gebhards are pictured with a commercial break for the outpatient departments at the hospital, with their own version of “Head, Shoulders, Knees, and Toes.”
Kris Umbarger hosted “Let’s Make A Deal” with Piper VanSickle. A few audience members received prizes throughout the night.
Kristi Spellman performed “Go Your Own Way” by Fleetwood Mac.
Dave Hoffman ended the night with a beautiful rendition of “Elvis Presley’s “One Pair of Hands.”

A buffet dinner was held that evening on the main level, followed by entertainment on the stage in Liberty Theatre. CH-F’s Chief Executive Officer Julie Jones welcomed all in attendance. Community Healthcare Foundation Director Kris Umbarger recognized this year’s sponsors and foundation member Dan Lucas gave the invocation.
Lexi Brown of Fairfax kicked off the entertainment portion of the night with the singing of the Star Spangled Banner. In a nod to “The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson,” Casey Martin of Tarkio hosted the show.
Kristi Spellman of Fairfax sang “Go Your Own Way” by Fleetwood Mac and Mikaela Sons of Rock Port powered out “Jolene” by Dolly Parton. With a hilarious take on Johnny Carson’s Carnac the Magnificent, Casey invited the hospital’s doctors Aron Burke, Mina Massey, and Dustin Carpenter on stage for an off-the-cuff question and answer skit. Erica Taylor of Rock Port performed “Rose Garden” by Lynn Anderson and Parker and Crystal Woodring of Fairfax led the crowd in John Denver’s “Take Me Home, Country Roads.” Taking the stage as Allen Ludden, Richard Oswald of Fairfax hosted “The Password Game” with fellow Fairfaxians Mike and Sandy Fisher and Max and Gracie Hopkins acting as contestants. The Ladies in Black from Rock Port (Deb Johnson, Lynn Hunter, and Terry Jackson) got everyone dancing in their seats to “Afternoon Delight” by Starland Vocal Band. Casey Martin and Kris Umbarger played “Let’s Make A Deal” with contestants selected from the audience and several prizes were handed out. Mikaela Sons performed “I Feel The Earth Move” by Carole King. The 50/50 raffle winner was drawn and announced. Holly Huntley of Rock Port was the winner and she donated the money back to the hospital. Dave Hoffman of Fairfax ended the night’s festivities by singing Elvis Presley’s “One Pair of Hands.”
Thanks to the many sponsors and hard workers who made this year’s event such a success, around $25,000 was raised for the hospital. CH-F is looking at replacing the phone system and updating the parking lot, and the money raised will help with that.
