A ribbon cutting and open house was held at A Place On Main Friday, April 18, 2025. Located at 509 Main Street in Tarkio, the newly opened business is owned by Donovan Spears and Dara Whipple (pictured cutting the ribbon, which is held by Dara’s sons, Brody and Bryar Wennihan). A large crowd of supporters stopped by to take a look at the renovations and to learn what all the business has to offer.

Tarkio Mayor Jeff Agnew, Atchison County Development Corporation Director Monica Bailey, and Adam Summers, Northwest Missouri Enterprise Facilitation facilitator, visit during the open house at A Place on Main. Northwest Missouri Enterprise Facilitation sponsored the ribbon cutting held prior to the open house.

Besides being an event center with open floor space with tables set up for gatherings and a kitchen, A Place on Main is also full of fun-filled arcade games. One of the “old school” games available is Pac-Man, which Madison Lesher is pictured taking a turn at.

A new event center, A Place On Main, has opened up at 509 Main Street in Tarkio. A ribbon cutting and open house was held last week and was well attended by those eager to get a glimpse of the newly remodeled building.

The event center includes a full kitchen as well as the opportunity for renting an arcade room and the use of party accessories. The goal of the owners, Donovan Spears and Dara Whipple, is to offer a local venue for meetings and parties without having to leave town.

One thing that sets A Place on Main apart from other venues is the unique service of assisting with party set-up and tear down which will allow their clients to concentrate on the event itself. “At A Place On Main, it is our goal to provide a full-service event space for our guests to concentrate on making memories, while we focus on the details for our community and the surrounding area. We hope to maintain a consistent flow of clients and bring new events to town while being adaptable to the community wants and needs,” said Donovan and Dara. “We are excited to announce that the event space is now open and look forward to serving Tarkio and its surrounding areas.
