Staff Reports
Terry Miller, City Treasurer, reported that all accounts are in balance. One of the city’s CDs matures May 9. She got rates from Farmers State Bank and Bank Midwest. After reviewing both rates for a different number of months, it was voted to take the Farmers State Bank seven month rate of 4.20% APY.
John Brown, water superintendent, reported that the Boy Scouts are looking for a project to do around town. He suggested buying paint and materials and they paint the park stage. The aldermen voted to approve the project and allow up to $500 be spent for paint and supplies. John also received chip and seal bids for a few blocks around town totaling $72,306. He is going to contact the company that laid asphalt on South Sly last year to see about doing North Sly.
The city clerk reminded the council about city-wide clean-up being May 2-4. The city auditor showed up to get started on the 2024 audit March 28. He will be at the May council meeting to present the 2023 and 2024 audit. Christy also asked how to go about paying Ryan Kingery for his mayoral duties. It was voted to prorate the mayoral duties and to pay Ryan now instead of at the end of the year.
The meeting adjourned at 7:00 p.m. The next meeting is May 21 at 6:00 p.m.
