The Allen-Schiffern American Legion Auxiliary Unit 199 met on April 14, 2025, with seven members present. Members reported no hours or money spent helping our veterans and community for the month of April.
Chaplain Judy gave an opening prayer. Sergeant-at-Arms Michaelle led the group in the Pledge to our flag, and the Preamble to the Constitution of the American Legion Auxiliary.
First Vice-President/Secretary Barb read the minutes of the February and March meetings which were approved. Treasurer Sheridan gave the financial report which was approved.
Barb reported on the membership status. All but two members are paid.
The spring rummage sale was another success. The auxiliary appreciates all those who donated items to sell, all the volunteers who came to help unpack, and the city employees who helped to move stuff outside to load the truck at the end.The next sale will be October 10-11.
No application for Girl’s State was turned in, so the auxiliary will not be sponsoring a delegate this year.
County Government Day will be Wednesday, April 23. We will meet on Tuesday, April 22, to make the sandwiches and bag the relish and cookies. Linda will order the buns and she and Sheridan will purchase the groceries we need.
Second Vice-President KC discussed the guidelines for rummage sales with some new ideas and then some present members had some concerns to discuss. Sheridan will take the old and new guidelines, and print them for further discussion at the next meeting.
With no further business to come before the group, Judy gave a closing prayer.
Linda adjourned the meeting.
The next meeting will be May 12, 2025.
