James Earl Hannah, the son of James Floyd and Twila Marie (Whalen) Hannah, was born May 7, 1941, and passed away Saturday, April 26, 2025, at the age of 83.
Jim graduated from Tarkio High School, class of 1959. He attended Northwest Missouri State University, Maryville, Missouri. He was recruited to play football by Northwest Missouri State University and the University of Missouri, but elected not to play because of a knee injury.
Jim began farming at the age of 16 and continued to operate the family farm until his passing. He was a steward of the land and left the soil better than he found it. He was gifted with an innate ability to fix anything and everything. If he couldn’t find a part, many times he just made it.
On August 16, 1990, Jim was united in marriage to Shirley Carter Harmon. They enjoyed 34 years of farming the land, traveling the country with friends, and spending winters in Maui, Hawaii, which was Jim’s happy place. He loved playing golf in Maui with Mike, Wally, and Barry. Jim was a member of the Tarkio Presbyterian Church.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include wife, Shirley Hannah; children, Sam (Afton) Hannah, and Dr. Leisa Harmon (Corey) Snyder; and grandchildren, Jillian and Teahen Hannah and Jaden and Drew Snyder.
A memorial service was held Tuesday, April 29, 2025, at First Baptist Church, Tarkio, conducted by Pastor Tate Walker and Rev. Glenn Scott. Interment was at Home Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to Tarkio Golf Club. Arrangements were under the direction of Davis Funeral Home, Tarkio, Missouri. Online condolences may be made at www.minterfuneralchapels.com.
