The Atchison County Commission and elected officials joined the American Legion and Legion Auxiliary in hosting the 70th annual County Government Day on Tuesday, April 22. Fifty-six students from Rock Port, Tarkio and Fairfax attended the program.

The Atchison County Commission met Thursday, April 24, 2025. Present were: Presiding Commissioner Curtis Livengood, South District Commissioner Richard Burke, North District Commissioner Jim Quimby, and Susette Taylor, Clerk of the Commission.
Presiding Commissioner Livengood called the meeting to order.
Minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved.
Bills were reviewed and approved for payment.
Rhonda Wiley, Emergency Management/E-9-1-1 Director, met with the commission and provided an update on the VOIP installation.
Clerk Taylor presented a credit card policy for the commission to review. Following review, the commissioners voted to adopt the policy as presented. The policy will be forwarded to department heads and elected officials who have been issued a card.
Frank Aquino and Quinn Gallagher met with Clerk Taylor and the commission to provide some educational information about Gallagher and MAGIC (Missouri Affiliated Governments Insurance Consortium). Deputies Amy Meinecke and Okema Galston sat in on the presentation. They presented an overview of the history of MAGIC and stated that their objective is to offer a medical benefit plan option to Missouri counties. There were a lot of great questions and feedback, but it was basically an informational presentation.
Judge Brett Hurst and Sheriff Riley were in to discuss courthouse security.

Matt Fazio with Great River Engineering was present to provide an update on current BRO projects. Road and Bridge Supervisor Kenny Wallace and Deputy Allison Cherry sat in on the update.
The commissioners went out to inspect county roads.
