Now known as KG Buds Designs By Jay, the flower shop in Fairfax will be run by Kay Graves’ granddaughter, Jaycee Graves.
After more than 30 years of seeing to the floral and decor needs of Fairfax residents, KG Buds’ owner Kay Graves has handed over the management of the shop to her granddaughter, Jaycee Graves. Although the name has changed slightly to KG Buds Designs by Jay, it will continue to offer a wide selection of flowers for your everyday needs.
Whether flowers, plants, or arrangements are needed for holidays, special occasions, weddings, funerals, or just to brighten the day of someone who needs it or your kitchen table, Jaycee is just a phone call or stop away. Located at 119 E. Main, KG Buds and Designs by Jay is open 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday through the month of May. Shop hours may be limited throughout the summer, but that doesn’t mean flower sales won’t be available. Just give her a call at 660-686-3313 and she will set you up with whatever you need. Once summer turns into fall and school starts again, the shop will return to normal hours. Jaycee will be providing flower delivery to Atchison County residents, as well as to the Craig and Mound City, Missouri, area.
Jaycee, a Fairfax High School graduate, recently returned to her hometown after earning her university degree. During her college years, she enjoyed taking some flower arrangement classes and also worked in a flower shop in the city. Although customers’ wants and needs are sometimes a bit different in the city, she already had some experience of working in her grandmother’s shop and enjoyed learning more about the trade. Jaycee plans to have a wide selection of flowers and plants available for purchase and looks forward to serving her hometown community in a building that has stood strong on Main Street since 1916. Following a windstorm that caused major roof and water damage, Kay and her crew of family and community members put a lot of work into restoring the old building back to its prime and it’s now one of the rare gems still shining brightly in Atchison County. With wood floors, a tin ceiling, and cabinets from Beulah Hunter’s drug store that occupied the space in the early days, customers take a step back in time as they enter the shop. Along with beautiful decor and the wonderful sights and smells of fresh flowers, it’s a place to behold!
