The Rock Port High School girls’ and boys’ track teams won the Class 1 District 8 Track Meet Saturday, May 10, in Grant City, Missouri. The girls scored 147 points, and the boys scored 108 points. The Class 1 Sectional 4 Track Meet will be held Saturday, May 17, at Mound City. Atchison County will be well represented at the meet with a number of East Atchison and Rock Port athletes qualifying.
East Atchison advanced two pole vaulters on Saturday with Danni Irvine vaulting 2.59 meters and placing third and Grace Oswald (below) vaulting 2.59 meters and placing fourth.
Owen DeRosier hits 6.3 meters in the long jump to win Districts and set a new personal record.
With a triple jump of 12.58 meters Gavyn Irvine takes first place. Gavyn also took fourth place in the pole vault with a jump of 3.35 meters.
Lizzie Schlueter qualified in both the 100 meter hurdles and the 300 meters hurdles taking second place in each.

EA ran a 4:13.83 finishing in third place and advancing on to Sectionals Saturday, May 17 in Mound City.
Lead leg Taya Windham gets out strong for EA and has a good exchange with Grace Caudill. Grace Oswald, third leg, gets out of the way following a good exchange with Bailey Wennihan, the anchor leg. EA finished with a time of 10:52.36, placing third and advancing on to Sectionals.

East Atchison’s boys’ 4×200 meter relay placed fourth with a time of 1:40.49 finishing in fourth place and advancing on to Sectionals. Lead leg Luke Gebhards hits Clayton Vernon in stride for a smooth hand off.

Taking first and third in the open 800 meter run Avery Meyerkorth and Braylyn Wood had a strong showing. Avery also qualified for Sectionals in the long jump, placing third with a jump of 4.6 meters.
Karlie Gebhards comes on strong to place fourth in the discus with a throw of 29.16 meters and advances to Sectionals on Saturday.
Dylan Lair has a good start in the 100 meters finishing in second place with a time of 11.50. Dylan also placed fourth in the long jump with a leap of 5.81 meters, advancing him on to the Sectional meet.
Audrie Meyerkorth ran the lead leg in the 4×400 meter relay and makes the exchange with Norah Watkins (above).
Third leg Braylyn Wood gets the baton to anchor Avery Meyerkorth, who brings it home to place fourth with a time of 4:20.80 and to advance on to Sectionals, Saturday, May 17.
Taking first place in the 4×800, the team of Jacoby Driskell and Norah Watkins (above), and Braylyn Wood and Avery Meyerkorth (below) walked away with a time of 10:16.23. Norah also won the 1600 meter run with a time of 5:45.24 and placed second in the 3200 meter run with a time of 12:47.06.
With a triple jump of 12.22 meters, Logan Ellis placed fourth and will advance to Sectionals on Saturday.
Audrie Meyerkorth ran a 1:01.94 in the open 400 to place second.
Ella Meyerkorth finished the day with four firsts. Ella threw the javelin 34.34 meters, she ran a 15.49 in the 100 meter hurdles (setting a new school record), she clocked a 45.98 in the 300 hurdles, and in high jump she cleared 1.6 meters.
Corbyn Jakub breaks his own school record after setting it last week in the javelin with a throw of 45.44 meters and wins Districts.
Landrey Kelly advances to Sectionals on Saturday after vaulting 2.59 meters and placing fourth.
Ryder Herron has a strong showing, placing first in the shot put, hitting 14.38 meters, and first in the discus, throwing 41.11 meters.
With a throw of 39.51 meters in the discus, Gabe Gebhards finishes in second place. Gabe also placed fourth in the javelin with a throw of 39.85 meters and advances to Sectionals in both events.
Case Millsap advances in two individual races: the 100 meter dash, where he ran a 11.91, placing third, and the 200 meter dash, where he placed fourth in a time of 24.29 seconds.
Malachi Skillen ran well, advancing in both the 1600 meter run and the 3200 meter run. Malachi placed third in the 1600 with a time of 4:46.07, and in the 3200 meter run he finished in fourth place, running 11:01.79.
Camden McEnaney runs the lead leg of the 4×100 meter relay handing off to Case Millsap. Corbyn Jakub and Dylan Lair finished out the relay that placed second with a time of 44.79 seconds.
