Dannye Bradfield will be celebrating her retirement at Oswald Crow office in Rock Port following 35 years in the insurance business in Atchison County.
An open house will be held during office hours on Friday, May 30, at 319 S. Main Street in Rock Port.
Dannye started her career in 1988 with 3B’s Insurance, where she was for 21 years until Jeremy Crow bought the business from the Batschelets.
Her journey continued with Oswald Crow for 14 more years, doing everything from selling insurance to accounting and being an all-around agent for clients.
Bradfield said that working with farmers through the many floods over the years stands out above the business-as-usual aspects.
“Every one of the floods were a mess,” Bradfield said. “I mean, it’s a disaster emotionally and financially. It’s hard for all the farmers, so you deal with that when they come.”
With her retirement, Bradfield said her and her husband Richard will be visiting their eight grandchildren in St. Louis and Iowa. She also plans to travel with her sisters, though no definitive plans have been made yet.
“I wanted to go quietly into the night but no one is letting me,” Bradfield said. “It’s been a pleasure to work with all the farmers and everyone I’ve known here for most of my life.”
