Ginny Vernon and her daughter, Nancy Hummel, stand next to the flag raised in memory of Jack Vernon at the Fairfax Avenue of Flags in the city park. Jack was a 1964 graduate of Fairfax High School. He enlisted in the United States Navy and proudly served two tours in Vietnam from 1964 to 1967 aboard the USS Henderson.
