The sixth grade class at Fairfax Elementary went to Fairfax City Hall Thursday, April 24, for a program about careers. This program was set up to comply with the Missouri Department of Education requirement to inform sixth graders about different careers.
The speakers presenting to the class were Mykie May, firefighter with St. Joseph Fire Department; John Brown, EMTS/First Responder; and Justin Ralph, Conservation Agent with the Missouri Department of Conservation. Following each speaker, the students had the opportunity to ask questions about their respective careers. Following the question–and-answer portion of the program, refreshments were served to all in attendance. Other guests for the program were Ms. Jennifer Blakeman and Ms. Traci Davis.
The students and Mrs. Dixie Stoner were very appreciative of the guest speakers giving their time to share and visit about their respective careers. Their careers are vitally important to the communities they serve.
