Six members of the Allen Schiffern Unit 199 met on June 9, 2025.
Barb read the minutes from the last month, which were accepted with some corrections.
Sheridan gave the treasurer’s report which was accepted.
A few members still need to pay their dues. They will be contacted.
A report on the Memorial Day lunch was given, noting a larger turnout than last year. It was felt that everything went well and that no changes needed to be discussed.
Sheridan reported on purchasing a new commercial stove for the kitchen with plans to have it operational for the November turkey dinner. The cost of stoves and what the auxiliary could/would pay was discussed. Gloria gave the name of a company to contact. Sheridan will follow up with this purchase.
Sheridan and Linda reported on another project of purchasing a shipping container for storage. It would be placed outside the Legion building. The Legion has approved this project. All members present approved the container purchase. If you know someone or a group that could paint a patriotic mural on it, let the unit know.
Election of officers was held with the following results: Linda Payton, president; Barbara Hines, vice-president; Sheridan Mires, secretary/treasurer; Donna Payne, historian; Judy Grundel, chaplain; and Michaelle Murphy, sergeant-at-arms. Someone is needed to take the minutes at the meetings. If any member is interested doing this, please let Linda or Barb know.
The national convention will be July 10-13 in Cape Girardeau.
The District meeting will be September 6 in Tarkio. There have been changes made for these meetings. Registration will be at 9:30 a.m. with meeting starting at 10:00 a.m. There will be a “brunch” type snack, but no meal will be served. The meeting will end by noon or before. This will be a trial to see how this works. Watch for the September meeting notice.
No further business was brought forward and the meeting was adjourned by Linda.
The next meeting will be August 11, 2025.
